Something beautiful is growing again

Various scattered flower petals and small flowers on a gray surface.

For a while, the gardens fell silent…no blooms, no bundles, just the quiet rhythm of tending and waiting, as the roses slowly and purposely put down roots, as they settled into their new home. Beauty has a way of returning, and the roses are once again ready to reign, capturing the hearts of anyone willing to peek.

In June, 2026, Hummingbird Roses opened its gates again, offering a limited collection of Own-root, hard to find, and northern hardy roses, grown by hand, in the heart of West Michigan.

We grow roses the slow way, from cuttings, not grafts. Each plant is chosen for its health, form and beauty, and nurtured through our long and cold Michigan winters, so it can thrive in yours.

These roses aren’t bred for speed, but for endurance and resilience to provide beauty that endures.

Whether you’re a collector, a gardener, or simply someone who believes good things take time – you’ll find something rare waiting to bloom again this spring.

While the garden rests, here’s a glimpse of where it all began.

Our Story

Every rose has roots and so does this story.

Hummingbird Roses began in a small backyard tucked between pine trees and Michigan wind by it’s founder, Mindy Rosenberger, who has spent more than three decades growing and studying roses. What started as a single bloom became a growing collection, not just of roses, but of lessons in patience, resilience, and beauty.

Over time, that quiet passion took shape in rows of heirloom plants, hands that never seemed to mind the dirt, and a belief that good things grow slow.

Today, what was once a backyard dream has blossomed into a small, family-run rose farm, tended with the same care, curiosity, and heart that started it all.

“We grow roses the way they were always meant to be grown, with time, touch, and a little bit of faith.”
